Middle School Band

The FVL Middle School Band and Strings are comprised of students
in grades 5-8. Students in our FVL Schools, home schools and
public schools make up the members of our program. Students in
the FVL Schools are offered private instrument lessons during the
school day at their individual school.
Instruction is provided by lead director, Mr. Charles
Jahnke. Group band instruction takes place at Fox Valley
Lutheran High School in Appleton on Saturday mornings. String
instruction takes place on Monday evenings also at FVL
HS. Approximately 135 - 150 students are expected to
participate in the program this year.
Cadet
Band (first year students) is directed by Mr. Robert Kramer, Wind
Ensemble (Intermediate) is directed by Mrs. Amy Nogar, and Senior
Winds (Advanced) is directed by Mr. Charles Jahnke. Mr. Jahnke
also directs the string ensemble, and jazz ensemble. Mr. Jim
Buman assists with percussion. All the directors work with the
Chicago Band.
Student musicians participate in annual concerts in December and
May. Other concerts may include - Veterans Day Programs,
Winterfest, and performances in our FVL Schools. Students are
offered many opportunities to grow in their musicianship such as
Solo/Ensemble Competition, Christian Band Festival, St. Norbert's
Honors Band, Eastern Valley Conference Honors Band and Music in the
Parks competition. The FVL Middle School Music program is a
member of the Wisconsin School Music Association.

who work behind the scenes to help everything run smoothly.
